New Bosnia and Herzegovina international Ermin Mahmić on target for Liberec

Ermin Mahmić was goalscorer for Liberec in Saturday’s Czech league match against Slavia Prague. The game finished 1:2 to the visitors from Prague; our midfielder pulled one back in the 50th minute with a superb strike from outside the box after Slavia had led 0:2. He was also shown a yellow card in the 34th minute. With this win Slavia reached 74 points and edged closer to the title, while Liberec stayed sixth on 46 points. This season Mahmić has 7 goals and 3 assists in the league.

As a reminder, on Friday 1 May our federation announced that Mahmić, after lengthy administrative hurdles, had become eligible for our senior national team. Emir Spahić, director of the “A” national team, shared the news on his Instagram profile as well, welcoming him aboard. Mahmić will be available to head coach Barbarez in future camps; we will see whether he is called into the wider squad for the World Cup. Ermin Mahmić is 21; he was born in Austria, where he also began his career. This season he joined Liberec from Austrian second-tier side Lafnitz.
